Welcome to my website!1 🎉
I launched this site today
This is the third personal website I have published
I’m hoping this one can be a little more durable and host many great journal & blog entries to come 🙂
These things always take longer than you expect. I have already spent a lot of time tweaking templates, css, the content, and so on
Typewriters ⌨️
I used to write letters
The problem is that my handwriting is not that good, however I still think there is some intrinsic maybe-quaint value to having something on paper
I think it would be cool to own a typewriter, maybe, it would be such an anachronism
I’m reminded of this hilarious video:
Music 🎶
I think a relatively small amount of people know about the Billboard Hot 100
It’s the industry-standard way that the popularity of music is measured in the United States
Every week they release the top 100 songs for that week, and they’ve been doing it since 1955
This has generated a ton of trivia and random facts to know about2
- Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus is the song that has spent the most time at #1, ever, it was there for a total of 19 weeks
- Heat Waves by Glass Animals has spent the most time on the Hot 100 of any song, at 91 weeks. It’s followed by Blinding Lights by The Weeknd at 90 weeks, and Radioactive by Imagine Dragons at 87 weeks
The Hot 100 is not just for generating trivia, it’s important to those in the industry, as Wikipedia states,
Although the advent of a singles music chart spawned chart historians and chart-watchers and greatly affected pop culture and produced countless bits of trivia, the main purpose of the Hot 100 is to aid those within the music industry: to reflect the popularity of the “product” (the singles, the albums, etc.) and to track the trends of the buying public.
Anyway, Billboard posts their Hot 100 as a Spotify playlist weekly3 and in lieu of listening to the radio I think it may be a good way to stay in-touch with what’s popular
Don’t worry, you’re already here 🙂
